UPDATE TO: AWARDED ONE YEAR POSITION WITH MAINE DOE
August 2021 - July 2022
Joanna Martel has been chosen to head up a PreK - 12th grade curriculum building team of up to 50 persons for the MOOSE Module Build, Year 2. Focused in on one historical and sociological issue, Joanna will assist and guide the team in its efforts to build an integrated, multi-level, cross curriculum module.
UPDATE 3/21/2022 Having taken on leading a team of 23 amazing Maine educators while partnering with the HHRC, in the tackling of building a PreK-12th grade learning progression on the topic, "The History of Genocide and the Holocaust", Joanna is proud to present the public, free, and innovative product of learning modules produced.

Dr. Martel is proud to share the results of the study, "Interactions Between Stakeholders for the Benefit of Career Pathway Instruction of Sixth Through Twelfth Grade Students of Maine"
That goal of this action research study was to determine and implement the best methods and practices for interactions between business, industry, community leaders, and 6th – 12th grade students. Specifically, to understand better the aspects of experiential interactions through public schools that enriching understanding for the student regarding personal future job goals, interests, and possibilities. The primary research questions are:
What are the intrinsic attributes of business and student interactions that inspire students to personal empowerment?
What are the intrinsic attributes of business and student interactions that inspire students in their desire to improve their community?
What actions performed by business and educational leaders increase the use of problem-solving strategies and skills related to the exploration of future?
learning – whenever a student cannot access classroom instruction. Each module is designed around the essential question, “How do I Interact with and Impact My World?” Modules are organized by grade level in grades pk-5 and by grade span for grades 6-8 and 9-12.
JOANNA MARTEL, VICE PRESIDENT OF NEW NON-PROFIT, AMAGARA MARUNGI
Started in the spring of 2021, Joanna serves as the Vice President of the newly created nonprofit serving rural, poor communities in Africa. In just its first year Amagara Marungi has procured close to $30,000 worth of funding to assist in education, food, health programs and building materials to serve close to 400 individuals from pre-birth to old age in Uganda! Within the second year we are looking to expand in to Cameroon.
